Mėta miškinė yra apie 0,50m. į viršų ir 1 m. į plotį užaugantis daugiametis augalas. Žydi apie 8-9 mėnesį. Augalas yra hemofroditas (apsidulkina pats).
Aprūpina vietinę laukinę gamtą maistu, užuoveja (prieglobsčiu) ir pan. Augalas aromatingas. Kvapnus maltas ir džiovintas.
